The 2011 campaign project, performed by Westminster Dredging, consisted of capital dredging. The River Tyne was dredged from the harbour entrance over a distance of 5.5km to a depth of -10m CD. Furthermore the berth on the south bank (Tyne Bulk Terminal) was dredged to -13m.

In total approximately 660,000m3 of a wide variety of material types were dredged with 50.000m3 of clay and rock being brought on shore during these operations. The dredging campaign was finished on July 26th 2011.
